WORK ON THE HAWKS-ANGUS

The Hawks-Angus workmen were battling against frost and a raging cold wind Saturday In Jackson, says the Press of that city, though during the week mild weather was of great advantage to the pushing of the work in the city to completion. At points along the line in the city where special work, such as curves and crossings were put in, great blocks of earth cemented with frost are pulled on either side of the street, evidence of the difficulties overcome when people really in earnest are building a railroad.

An inspection of the line Saturday afternoon from the east city limits to the corner of East Main street and Milwaukee street proved an interesting experience. The subway under the Michigan Central belt line at the end of Chapin street is now complete. Trolley wires run under the bridge and are drawn tigt from the east and fastened to one of the bridge piles. Coming west down Chapin street the road proper is complete. At the Horton Street crossing planking has been put in between, and at the immediate sides of the track, making an excellent crossing. At the other street crossing coming towards the city planks are piled at the corners, and when the weather is favorable plank crossings will be put in.

The "Y" at the corner of Milwaukee and Pearl streets was completed at dark Saturday evening. One track leading to the recently constructed car barn at the corner of Park avenue and Pearl is built and the excavations and curve rails indicate that two others are in sight of completion.

The stringing of the trolley will be finished by Tuesday evening. The other work undone in the city will be accomplished by that time. It is only a question of a few days when Hawks-Angus cars will be in Jackson.
