Young Bride Left Behind

Detroit Tribune: a broken-hearted wife was Marie Leykauf when she sought Mayor Maybury yesterday afternoon and requested his assistance to secure her transportation to Chicago, whither, she said, her husband had fled from her on the 12:40pm Michigan Central express. 

About six months ago Marie Maulbetsch, who is only 18 years old, left her home in Ann Arbor against her parents' wishes and went to Windsor, where she and William Leykauf were made man and wife.

As she told her story to the mayor the tears rolled down her pretty face. She refused to believe that he had deserted her. Mayor Maybury reported the case to the police and had them wire the Chicago police to apprehend Leykauf on his arrive in that city. Later he secured transportation for Marie, who left last night for Chicago.
