John Beck Left no Word of Whereabouts

MISSING TWO WEEKS

He Lived all Alone--Police Failed to Find Trace of Him on His Premises

Where is John Beck?

John Beck is a bachelor who lives all alone in a red brick house on W. Liberty street. For years he drove a wagon for Central Mills, but for the past few years he has not been in active work, having amassed a competence.

He has not been seen by his neighbors for about two weeks. The police entered his house and after a thorough search failed to find any trace of him.

He traded a farm in the country recently with Charles M. Buehler for the house on 514 S. Third street. He had leased the farm for four years and when the lessee tried to turn his cattle in the purchaser of the farm refused to let him do so and the lessee wanted $300 damages out of Beck. Beck offered, it is said, $200. Some think that this is the reason for his disappearance.

John M. Wagner thinks he saw him in a farmer's wagon last Saturday, but other acquaintances claim that it is about two weeks since he has been seen.
