At the meeting of the board of public works Wednesday, Mr. F. G. Schleicher offered a resolution asking the city council for an appropriation of $600 for the replanking of bridges Nos. 1 and 2.

The paving of Liberty and State Streets with asphaltum block was also recommended.

It was unanimously decided to retain City Engineer Groves for another year.

Just what success the board will have in getting the $600 asked for to replank the bridges named above is a matter of considerable doubt, since the bridge, culvert and crosswalk fund, from which the amount would be drawn, is now depleted to the extent of $2,000. In fact there is none of the city departments funds which are not now overdrawn with the exception of the police, fire and poor funds.

The difficulty, however, may be met, although it is very uncertain, by the fact that in the first week in May the liquor licenses will be coming in. These will bring in an amount exceeding $8,000. With the addition to the city treasury a way may le found to jet the bridge appropriation which has been asked for by the B. of P. W.
