The Ithaca Banking company, through their lawyer, Martin J. Cavanaugh, filed suit in the circuit court Tuesday against Jas. M. Auten, of Milan, and Reuben Howard, of Ithaca, on a promissory note for $318 made by Auten and signed by Howard.

Both men are prominent farmers in the section in which they live. The note was given some months ago and it seems that the bank made repeated requests for payment which, it appears, were not responded to by the defendants, hence the suit filed against the defendants.
