There is considerable excitement 1 among some of the saloonkeepers of the city over the ordinanee which was introduced at the last meeting of the couiieil prohibiting music in saloons and the existence of stalls. A number of saloonkeepers provide a musical entertainment for thelr pat-1 rons nightly. One of tliese in talkiug abou-1 the ordinance sald: "The council will never pass it. Whilc I have 110 stalls in my place I have mnsic and my business wou!d iMl(M-all.v injured if I had to do away wlth lt." Wliy do you {hink the council won't pass the ordtoaace?" was asked. "Well," was the reply, "I have no particular reason for saying so. It's only in opiniĆ³n' that's all." Contrary to this, however, it is said j by those who ought to know that the ordlnance will pass with little if any opposition.
