One of the most horrible accidents which have occurred in Ann Arbor for some time happened at the ice house near the University boat house Tuesday afternoon, when John Andres, jr., the ice dealer, was badly injured by being kicked in the face by one of his horses.

The accident happened about three o'clock. Mr. Andres had gone to arrange a bandage on one of the hind legs of his horse when the animal became suddenly infuriated and kicking up both heels felled Mr. Andres to the ground.

When he was picked up it was found that his lower jaw was broken and that nearly all the teeth on the left side of his mouth were broken. The left side of his face was so badly injured that the bones protruded upwards and came out almost directly under his eye.

The unfortunate young man was hurried to the University hospital in an ambulance, where the doctors and nurses who attended him said it was one of the worst cases in its line that was ever brought into the hospital.

This morning Mr. Andres is somewhat better and the hospital physicians say that he will probably recover. If he does get better the probabilities are that his face will be badly disfigured for life.
