THE GRAVEL BANK CAVED IN

THREE MEN HAD A NARROW ESCAPE FROM DEATH.

One of C. J. Snyder's Wagons Was Smashed and Horse Knocked Down By the Cave In.

Three men had a narrow escape from death from the caving in of a gravel bank at 11 o'clock yesterday. C. J. Snyder had two teams and three men at work in the gravel bank on the Eberbach property near Recreation Park. The bank caved in for 20 feet, breaking a wagon and knocking down a horse. The men, Clarence Snyder, John Monahan and Frank Knapp, were between the wagon that was smashed and the bank when the cave came and merely escaped by the agility with which they got out of the dangerous spot. The horse was not injured, but not much was left of the wagon.
