COULD NOT FIND MR. HALLEN

A dispatch from Ann Arbor to the Detroit News says:

"The Whitmore Lake electric railroad is the latest project backed by Hallen, a Jackson capitalist. A committee consisting of Fleet Smith, Rev. Louis Goldrick, Jacob Zeeb and County treasurer Charles Braun, are canvassing the farmers as to the right of way. The road may be extended through to Brighton and Lansing.

The Jackson capitalist mentioned has not been located. Chas. O. Helling denies that he is building electric railroads anywhere, and Mr. Hallen's name is not in the city directory. However, the gentlemen mentioned as constituting the committee for securing the right of way are people who will deliver the goods, if there is anything in the project. Fleet Smith is a brother of E.L. Smith of this city; Rev. Louis Goldrick is pastor of the Catholic church at Northfleld, and the others are also men prominent in the community. The projected route is through an excellent territory, and the road will be built some time, if not now. - Jackson Press.

The name is not Hallen, but Hanlan.
