Democrats Gained, Falling Off Was Republican. Republican Unity Was Not so Marked This Year - Some Comparisons With Two Years Ago. The total vote on mayor in this city Monday was 2,438. This is 242 less than the vote on mayor two years ago, when Dr. Copeland was elected by 259 majority. Brown's gains on majorities over two years ago were 42 in the first, 68 in the third, 119 in the fourth, 39 in the fifth, 81 in the sixth and 98 in the seventh, while he lost 140 in the second. On the actual vote Brown had 4 less than Luick in the first ward and 102 in the second, while in the third ward he had 8 more, in the fourth 66 more, in the fifth 5, in the sixth 17 and in the seventh 41. Kempf had 38 more votes in the second than Copeland did, while Copeland had 46 more votes than Kempf in the first ward, 60 in the third, 53 in the fourth, 34 in the fifth, 64 in the sixth and 57 in the seventh. In the city at large Brown had 24 more votes than Luick had, while Copeland had 266 more votes than Kempf had. Weinberg, the prohibition candidate, received 38 votes and DeVee, the socialist, 14. The prohibitionists gained 10 votes and the socialists lost 10. Taking the votes on the leading candidates the fourth ward shows a gain of 13 in the votes cast two years ago, while the losses were first ward 50, second ward 64, third 52, fifth 29, sixth 47 and seventh 17. The democratic majority on alderman in the city was 145, counting the third ward 80 for Clancy, as returned by the inspectors. The democratic majority for supervisors was 257. The largest vote on city office, Monday, was 1,349 for Justice Doty and the smallest 1,041 for Justice Frueauff. Watts had 3 more votes than Seyler. Taking the largest democratic vote on any city candidate in each ward and the aggregate runs up to 1,392 votes. Seyler polls the largest republican vote in every ward aggregating 1,344. In other words 1,392 votes voted for some democratic city candidate and 1,344 for some republican.
