PITTSFIELD.

Pittsfield, May 9. - Miss K. Campbell, who has a position in the Kingsville, Ill., schools, is home for the summer.

Chas. Klager, of Detroit, visited relatives and friends in this vicinity the past week.

Miss Elizabeth Steere, a popular Pittsfield teacher, is teaching in the primary department of the Ypsilanti schools in the absence of the regular teacher.

Miss Emma Summer is visiting friends in Munith.

The Carpenter school closed last Friday with a very fine program of exercises, after which ice cream was served.

A party was given at the home of Herman Rayer last Thursday evening by the Knight Templar band and friends. A fine time is reported.

Mrs. Mary Lewis, wife of Newton Lewis, died yesterday morning of heart disease. Mrs. Lewis was a lady whom it was a privilege to known and as a friend indeed. The funeral will be held Wednesday at her late home. A husband and a host of friends mourn her death.

Crop conditions in this township are as follows: Wheat, small acreage, looking fine; hay, promises to be a large crop; oats, looking fair; corn, just coming up; bean planting begun. A good crop of apples and other fruit is expected.

Miss Louise Campbell closed a successful year of school near South Lyon last week.

DeWitt Anderson is having his house repaired.

Jay Campbell, of the Pueblo, Colo., schools is at home for the summer.

Miss Walker, of aline, closed school in the Roberts district last week.
