Toledo, July 2.- The little village of Whitehouse, fifteen miles from this city, was nearly wiped out of existence by fire Wednesday afternoon, with a total of fifteen dwellings and stores being burned, involving a loss of $32,000, with about $25,000 insurance. The fire started in Canfield & Sons' hardware store and was caused by an explosion of gasoline. The village fire apparatus was inadequate to cope with the flames and an engine was sent from this city. About forty people were made homeless.
