The movement which is on foot to clear the track in Washtenaw for Senator Glazier to realize on his ambition to land the nomination for state treasurer is an interesting one to those who know something of the inside history. It will be remembered that Glazier, when he ran for senator, lost his own county and only landed in the state senate by the votes of Jackson county. He was then supposed to be for primary election reform, but like various others turned up against it when his vote was recorded. The majority of Washtenaw voters of both parties are for this much needed reform and were betrayed in this by Senator Glazier. He gave very little time to his duties as senator, being absent much of the time from the senate chamber except when his presence was demanded there by the machine. He is a machine man and nothing else. But he has a way of moving machine men on the political checker board so as to spell success when that success depends upon machine methods. The present caucus and convention system is peculiarly adapted to that kind of statesmanship and this is fully understood by Senator Glazier. If he wins the nomination, he will be elected, of course, by a hundred thousand majority. Anybody on the republican ticket in Michigan in a presidential year will command about six figures in his majority. The working out of this movement will be an interesting study.
