A golden wedding was celebrated in ter heturned Friday from Springinary interest for the bride and groom were Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Walker, well known and respected throughout this section. They are both pioneers of the county. Mr. Walker was born in New York and came to this state with his parents in 1835. Mrs. Walker, who was Miss Isadore Hamm, was born in Salem township in 1836 where she has always resided. They were married Oct. 27, 1853, and moved to their present home in 1862 where they have since resided.

Mr. and Mrs. Walker are among the most prominent and honored citizens of Salem township and they may well look back with pride on the past fifty years of married life as one of happiness and content that comes to but a few.

At an early hour the guests began to arrive and soon the spacious house was comfortably filled with relatives and friends who had come to do honor and offer congratulations. At 2:30 the guests were assembled in the parlor where the program of the afternoon was carried out. Mr. and Mrs. William Stanbro sang a solo in a pleasing manner, after which Rev. ButIer of the Salem Congregational church, made some happy remarks. Mr. and Mrs. Stanbro then sang another song, followed by Mrs. Timothy Donovan, who read  a paper on the "Events of Life." Then carne a solo by Mrs. Ella Smith and son, Lee Pray. Miss May Clark gave a recitation which was followed by a very interesting paper by Mrs. Herbert Smith. Another song by Mr. and Mrs. Stanbro was followed by a recitation by Mrs. Kellogg, of Plymouth. Daniel Smith then read a very interesting paper pertaining to the occasion. The program closed with a solo by Mrs. Ella Smith and son, Lee Pray, after which the guests were invited to the dining room where an elaborate supper was  served as Mr. and Mrs. Walker know well how to serve.

The room was nicely decorated with autumn leaves and smilax. The tables presented a pretty appearance being decorated with chrysanthemums and carnations. and were presided over by four young ladies dressed in white.

There were present on this occasion two people who attended the wedding of Mr. and Mr. Walker so many years ago. They were Mrs. Carlyle Hamm of Salem, and Daniel Hannan of South Lyon who acted as best man at the wedding.

Many and costly presents were left by the guests. Among those present were: Rev. Butler, Fred G. Wheeler, Stephen Wheeler, Wm. Stanbro, I. W. Wheeler, Arthur Wheeler, A. F. VanAtta, Dr. Walker, John Munn,  E. Clark, Daniel Smith, Herbert Smith, and wives, and Mrs. A. M. Hamm, the Misses Ruth Munn, Erma Lane and Blanche Clark, of Salem: Wm. Thayer, Chas. Olerman and wives, and Mrs. Jeney May VanAtta of Detroit; D. F.  Schairer,  A. B. Walker, Wm. Smith and wives, and Lee and Claire Pray of Ann Arbor; Mr. and Mrs. F. R. Woodworth, Miss May Clark and Mrs. Mary J. Kellogg of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. T. Donovan of Northfield: Wm. Doty, Daniel Hannan and wives, Mrs. Ann Worden and L. B. Samson of South Lyon and Miss Clara Samson of Denver, Col.
