The Human Body
The blood, muscles, bones and other parts of the human body are composed of many chemical constituents, and a correct chemical analysis would be long and tedious. The specific gravity of the blood is 1,028, and 779 parts of every 1,000 are water. of the other parts chloride of sodium, chloride potassium, carbonate magnesia, calcium phosphate, calcium lactate, potassium phosphate, sodium carbonate and other constitution are found. This is generally true, with variations also, of tissues and bone. The fundamental substance of bone is composed of organic matter, combined with various inorganic salts, in which calcium phosphate largely predominates. In addition the bones contain calcium carbon ate, calcium fluoride, magnesium phosphate, sodium phosphate and sodium chloride.
