Farmer Fred Ports Has His Arm Amputated Just Below the Elbow

Milan, Mich., Nov. 14.—Fred Ports, a farmer who resides southeast of town between here and Raisinville station, was working with Francisco brothers husking machine, and got up on top of it to pull out some of the ears that had become fastened in the rollers, and slipping, his left hand went between the rollers, and before the machine could be stopped his hand was torn to shreds. He was brought here and Drs. E. F. Pyle and A. G. Mesic amputated his arm just below the elbow. This is the fourth accident of the kind in this locality caused by corn husking machines.
