Senator Hoar's Incisiveness.

Senator Hoar is often incisive. The other day he bustled into the room at the capitol of one of his old time colleagues, says the Washington Post. The locked door flew open at the senator's approach. The young man on guard stood back at attention as the senator rounded the screen at the entrance and stood before the clerk of the committee.

"Is the senator in?" inquired Mr. Hoar.

"He has gone out for a moment to get a bite of lunch," said the clerk very courteously.

"Well," ejaculated the senator, disappointed, but thoroughly good humored, "there's nothing immoral in that," and bustled out as rapidly as he had come in, leaving several people laughing heartily at the quirk.
