Is Their Understanding of Proposition Made to the Board of Education
-----
The movement to secure for Ann Arbor a Carnegie library building has received a severe setback, as the Ladies' Library Association informed the Board of Education at the latter's meeting, Tuesday night that they withdrew their proposition to give their property, revenue and equipment for the proposed Carnegie building.
The communication received from the ladies was as follows:
"At the regular meeting, Dec. 7, of the Board of Directors of the Ladies' Library Association it was voted unanimously that since you reject that part of the proposition recently made you by the association which renders available the gift of Mr. Carnegie for a library, the proposition be altogether withdrawn.
                    ANNA B. GELSTON,
                               Secretary."
The communication was received and filed without discussion, but it has an important bearing upon the question of a Carnegie library. The ladies wished the new building placed upon their land, but, after investigation, the board, at a special meeting Friday evening, decided to locate it upon the high school grounds.
