Pure juice of the pineapple liaR been known by the nesrroes of' the south as a cure for dlphiberia. J. Kennethf of the Chicajro Board of Trade, tried it, and gives bis experience in the followiug words : "A year ago last July," 'siid lie, "my youngest boy, novv C j-ears old, had an extretnely bad type of the disease. He had been down a week, and the oase was so desperate that the doctors, after a consultatioii, told me that the case was hopeless. Yon know there is danser ot' heart filnre in bad cases if the putiewt is gagjjetJ. I asked the doctors about it, and they had never heard of tho remedy. The3' said, however, that it was so harmless tuat it 'ouldn't buit liim, and we };aye it a trial. I prooured sorae ripe piaeapples, peeled off the outer skin, and squeezed om the juice with a lcmon fíjueeer. As tlie little fellow cuuldn't svvallow anylbing we had to rub the juice on lils longue with onr lingers at tirst. Then we got a tube, fllled it witli the juice, and by lixing u rubber nipple on one end injected ir Into hls mouth. After a little some of it got down his throat, and witliin tour or live hours at tlie most after the tirsl dose had been administered tbere were evidences of lts benilicial elTects. He contlnned to mi prove from that time, bnt it was ix weeks before we were able to move li i tu . Uis neek and splne were puralyzed and he was alniost blind tor hx months from the effect of olood poiaonlDg ensuiiifr from his sickoesg, but now he is as üright and bearty a boy as you will flnd anywbere. His reoovery is comph te.
