D. O. Douglas is home f rom Florida. Klmer Allen of Ypsilanti was in the city Thursday. Miss Gertrude Wade has been vislting friends at Ypsilanti. Wood, wife of Prof. DeVolson Wood, a former Professor in the University, has publlshed an Ameri, can Historical novel of the 19tii century, of which she is joint authoress with Eva Paine Kltchell. Tiie title is " Warp and Woof," published at Boonton, N. Y. Prof. T. J. Wrampelmeier and wife of San Diego, Cal., visited friends here last week. He is in the real estáte business and conslderably Interested in canal irrigation in Arizonla where thousands of acres of desert lands have been recl.iimed. They built a canal 40 miles in length, costing $300,000. The land is being taken up at $1.25 per acre, and by paying $8.00 per acre water rights are obtained which renders the soil so fertile as to give returns on a basis of $t00 per acre.
