The passage of the McKInley blU will he of especial benefit to Michigan, na utll as theother States on the Canadian border, because it will simt out a lot of the Cannuck surplus which they have been dumping upon us. List year we imported $7,500,000 worthof barloy; $1,000,000 vvortli of hay, and $331, 000 worth of potatoes. Under the provlslons of the tarlff bill these markets will be saved to our farmers. The acreage roqnircd for the iucreased production of wool, Bax, hemp, potatoes, barley, etc, will be withdrawn Irom thecultivation of wheat and corn, of which we raise a surplus, and this will restore fair prices ter thoee articles. We on tlie border will feel this help tlie BOonest, in fact all farm producĂs have advanoed already, since the passage of the bill. Everybody likes it except the brewers and democrats. Their sophistry will flnd it like drawing a heavy load througli Band to draj the people after thein tor free I rade.
