The Northern Pacific Rallroail passing through Minnesota, Dakota, Montana, Idalio, Orogon, and Washington was the tirsr line tö bring the reglón oceupied by these states into communication with tlie eaet lts maln line and branches penetrate all sections of these statcs, reaching iiine-tentlis of the chlef cities. It Is the short line to Helena and Butte, Mont , Spokaoe Falla, Tacoma and Seattlo, Wiuli,, and Portland, Ore., and the only line running through train service i'rom the east through the states of Montana and Washington. Pullman Sleepers and furnisheri Tourists Sleeping cars are run via the Wisconsln Central and Northern Pacific, and Pullman Palacc Sleeping Cars via Chicago thrOQgb to the Pacific Coast without change. This is the Dininr Car and Yellowslone Park route. The large travel on the Northern Pacific line necessitated the inauguration in June 1800, of a second tlirough train to the Pacific coast thus enabling this road to offer the public the advantage of two through trains daily to Montana and polnts in the Pacific Northwest, carrying complete service of sleeping cars, dining cars and regular day coaches. The train leaving St. Paul in the morning runs via the reeen tly completed Air Line of the Northern Pacific through Butte, Mont., inakingthis the shortest line to the latttr poiut by 120 miles.
