Cengr-essman M. S. Brewer, of the Oth Michigan District, wis bornin Addison, Oakland Oounty Mich, October 22, 1888 He received a rirst class education, and after having worked for Bome time on his fathers farm he began to read law and was admitted to the bar at l'ontiac in 18(54 where he h;is since practised, except when employed in -the public service. His lirst office was as circuit court commissioner for Oakland county in ]866-69, later on lie served ten ycars in the Michigan Legislature. He was elected to the forty-iifth and forty-sixth congresses and was consul-general ín Berlin, Oennany, from 1881 to 1886. He was on lus return re-elected to the fiftieth congress and luis aleo a seat in the present congress. Mr. Brewer takee a great interest in questions relating t immigration and has heen a member of all committees which have been debating the naturalization qaestions in congress. lie often presides in committee on the whole.
