Puring the past week an inter-denominational county Sunday school convention lias been held. TÍie good pecple of Ypsilanti welcomed it, and the First Presbyterian church opened it doors for the receptiou and entertainnient of its guests. The conyention was prepared undcr the supervisión of retiring Fres. Tucker and was a success. The topics were appropriate and were discussed with that íreshness, vigor and originality tbat lends a charm to any topic however coinmonplace. The attendance was good and doubt- less would have been Setter had it not been interfered with by the arch euemv, ''La grippe." lt was deuaongtrated that much earnest work is needed. Washtenaw county claims theproud distinction of ha ving within its. limite the "Athens" of America, vet in this county are many families to whom the Bible is asealed book. lt is, therefore, a fíeld for Sunday school. workers, and the evangelical churches are joining hands in the work. The object of the county organization is to plant and nourish a Sunday school 01 Bible class in as many of the schooi houses throughout the county as is practicable. The work of conductina these schools and classes devolves largely upon the young peoole of the variou churches and nght nobly are some of them pushing the work uio ! The Students Christian Associatiou has been - if it is not now - represented in this work also. The following ofh'cer were elected for the ensuing year : Presitlent- Rev. II. M. Morey, Ypsilanti. Vice-President - Professor Steere, Ana Arbor. Secretary- Rev. S. T. Morris, Dexter. Treasurer - Mrs. W. YV. Beman, Ann Arbor. The convention then adjourned tomeet in Ann Arbor, in 1892. Mrs. W. 8. Perry and Mrs. A. B. Stevens were ppointed a conunittee to make nients tlierefore.
