The Courier has íhvays belleved in keeping up with the times, and in most tblngs up with the best odvanced progress. For instance it was the first pripting office in the state to put in steam heating in 18G5. It was the first print ing office in Michigan to light its rooms with its own electric light plant in 1884-, and now it is tlic Hrst office in the state outside Detroit to set type by macliinery. It makes its own type fresli every issue, so The Couricr readers will bc treated to a clean now type eaeh weck. While it takes a good printer to set up 1,000 ems nn hour, this machine has set 7,000 ems. and a good compositor after a week'a practlce lias set up at the rate of 3,000 ems au hour. It works on the principie of the typewriter, but is capable of greater speed. This article is set by the Typograph, and we hope next week to have the most of the paper in its new dress. Thus we sliall be able to give the readers of The Courier even more reading matter than in the past. We expect that our eontemporaries in this city will soon adopt the machine and another step forward will be made in the art of printing.
