Jackson, Miss., Fob. 17. - The .Stafe lunatic asylum, nearly two miles north ofhere, luis been burningsince 4 o'clock this morning. 'i'ho fire originated in nn atlie room where a lunatic named Brown was confined. He ped reeently and was brought and it is supposed heset his bedding on fire. Re was burned to death, About one-third of the immense building-, besides the kitehen and store-room will be saved by the flremen. The inmates were all removed to the new addition forcolored insane. Dr. Mitehell, the superintendent, was injured by a falling ladder. The loss will be about S2O(),üOO. The ieg-islaUire, wliich is nnw m sesaion, will provide for rebuildiag.
