_ Hampa x, X. S., Feb. 17.- News is just coming to hand of the disastrous effects of the blizeard vrliieh swept the coast last Thursday nint and Friday. The schooner Laura, of and for GlouCestcr, .hixs., from St. Jaeques, arrived here Sunday nifriit. The captain reports that he eneountered the g-ale at midtught on Thursday twenty miles ofE White Head. Á tremendous sea swept the vessel, carrying overboard two of the crew, John Kelly and Colin McKenna. McKe was swept back upon the deck hy another wave but Kelly was lost. The American sehooner Ella G. Thurston has arrived at Lockport, and reports the loss of four men on the banks. lhe men were in dorios and could not iind their vessel. The Glouee3ter sehooner S. A. Duncan foundered of Green Island on Sunday morning-. Tlie crew was sayed. A dispatch from Bahia róports the loss fchere of the ship Emanuel Swetfenborg-. 'J'lio vs.sel was on her wi Falmouth. A private dispatch sayg tli.it the schooner Mora had picked up the steamer Aleaba ninety miles ofif Turks Islands and had towed her into tliat port. The Akaba was bound from Marseilles to New Orleans.
