A Bill was introduced In the senate on the 29th uit to determine the valué of a legal tender ollar and to amend the pension laws - In the íouse a concurrent resolution was agreed to uthorizing the house and senate committees on immigration Jointly to investígate the workings f emigration laws and the importation of conract labor. The Indlan approprlation bill was urther considered. In the senate a bill to correct the difflculty that prevented the federal government from ■ uming jurisdiction in the prosecution of the j persons concerned in the lynching of Italians in iew Orleans was introduced on the lst. An amendroent to the post office appropriation bill jroviding 8200,000 to enable the postmaster geniral to test the tree delivery of mails in country districts was reported favorahly - In the house the Indian appropriation bill was passed. The free wool bill and bilis for the free entry of binding twine and cotton bagging and ties were reported. A bill was introduced to oréate the northern judicial district of Michigan, to comjrise thtrty counties. Pbtitions were presented in the senate on the 2d favoring government aid for the Nicaragua canal. The Idaho contested election case ■was discussed In the house a resolution was reported for the appointment of Gen. W. J. Sewell, Gen. Martin T. McMahon, Capt. John Mitchell and Maj. Gen. Bonebrake as managers of the national homes for disabled soldiers for j the terms commencing April 21, 1892. Consideration of the District of Columbia appropriation bill occupied the remainder of the sesüion. From ten states twenty-seven petitlons in favor of the passage of a bill "deflning optlons and futures" were filed in the senate on the 3d. The Idaho election contest case was decided in favor oí Dubois, the sitting member, by a vote , of 55 to 5. The pure food bill was discussed. . . . In the house the District of Columbia appropriation bill ($4,987,555) was passed. The bill allowing railroad companies to give special rates to commercial travelers was considered. A bill was introduced to prevent obstructing navigation of the Mississippi river between the mouth of the Chippewa river in Wisconsin and the foot of West Newton slough in Minnesota. A bill was introduced in the senate on the 4th directing the purchas of silver bullion and the coinage thereof, which was referred. After the delivery of eulogies in respect to the memory of Representativo Lee, of Virginia, the senate adiourned to the 7th. . . . The most of the sion of the house was devoted to the consideration of bilis on the priváis calendar. The pension appropriation bill ($134,825,066) for the fiscal year endíng June SO, 1893, was reported.
