Columbus. Ohio. - Gov. McKinley has recefved a big pocket knife, the first made by the Cattaxa&us Cutlery Co., ■whose factory wae oponed at Little Falte, N. Y., as a teeult of the MoKinloy law. Wïtb the knife carne a letter saylng: T voted the democratie ticket "or nearly thirty ye-arsi, but a drive through NcVv England in the year 1800, past i dio cutlery factories ín Rridg-eport, Naugatuck, Union City and Torriniffton, togpther Avith the ncai-ly paralyzed Industries of Lakeville, Northflld, Tliomaston and Shelburne Falls, convinced me of the error of my ways. I fonml oíd friends, wbo were Kood mechanica in our line, di-ivcn by the cheaj) Dutch Uniros, wljich were on sale in every city and hamlet throngh %vhich I passed, out of profitable mpüoyment, ad seeking work as commrai l.-iborers. ditfh liü'.i;'rs and coal lieavers. Grass grew around many of the doors of factories. Passing .through the towns, I heard T5U1 MeKinley and the McKinley bill 'tnlkod of on evcry siilr. I was first ronvineed, then eonverted, and, like &aul of Tarsus, the seals feil from my oyos and T saw the parties contending over American industries in their true lis'ht. ' ' Th.-tnks to Tour efforts, the McKinïpy law was enactpd, and hard times in our line of industry are past. Trade ie s'ood, wages are s'ood, our litilp town has nearly doubled its population in two yeare, and we belleve it Svill doublé again in two yeara moro. Hoping in the near future to aildress 'ou at thp Exeoutivo Mansion, Washiaia'ton, D. C. , inste-ad of Cohirabus, Ohio, we remain, yours sincerely. For Oattaraugus Cutlery Co.
