Alfcxander W. Hamilton, of Ann Arbor, the Republican candidate for state senator from this diBtrict, was in the city to day and made a large number of aoquaintances. He is a handsome gentleman of middle age and commanding presente, inipressing a etrangei instantly as a man of superior intelligence, high honor and business ability. Though not a stranger in Jackson he has never before been brought prominenlly into public notite n this city. but he will be our next state senator and every Renublican who meets him will be glad ro vote for him, in the certainty that he wül represent thia senatorial district ably und honestly. Mr. Hamilton is a man of the peopte, and the son of a farmer. He was born on a farm in Washtenaw county, and handled a plowuntil grown to Btalwurt manhood. Meanwhile he was educatiug himself in the public schools and at the state University in Ann Arbor. He graduated in the lilerary department, and completed the eoure in the law department. He subsequently located in Ann Arbor and soon becaine one ol its most progressive citizens, working while others elept for the improvement and rebuilding of that beauliful city. Through his efforts and in Btrumentality Ann Arbor now has one of the finest water sysiemain Michigan, with more miles of pipe than Jackson, or any other place twice the size of the L Univrsity town. Mr. Hamilton i inlerested iu other wuprovemenls, and is recognized as a lorough bueiness man.
