The peopel do trast the democratie party, wlth a vengeance. In one-half of th:s union the democratie party "trusts the people" to such an extent that only a democrat is allowed to vote. ïhat's "the party of the people." That is, the party of that part of the people wlio run things down there. The last clection was not a triunipn of democratie principies or of the democratie party. It was siuiply a triumph of the personal popularity of Grover Cleveland, wlio has a wonderful hold upon the confidence of the people.
