According to the testiniony of our most rel iable naturalists the only g-enus of "flying serpent" now known to inhabit the earth is a family of reptiles which make their homes in the gTeat forests of Borneo, mentioned by Meek, Williams. Kinne and others as "the flylng lizardsof the South seas." The best known species of this flying saurian is Uraco Volens leekii, a striped, snakc-like lizard about fourteen or sixteen inches in length when full grown. The primarv colors of Draco are red and yellow. in bands, dots, erescents and stripes. the red predominating to such an extent that the creature appears as a carmine rocket when sailing through the air. Some have declared that his wing-s are "sails" like those of the American flying squirrel, but Meek says "they approach true wingsand can be used by the little saurian to guide himself at will."
