The Vnivcrsity Bchool of Music wiU pen the second year's work in the idmirably arranged building now approaching completíon. This building is specïally adapted to tbe oeeds of a inisic school and will be thoronghly quipped in every particular. The nmiiis are light, airy, perfectly ventilated, while the concert hall (on the ground Boor) will accommodate the iudiences which may be counted on to listen to the second Beriéa of faculty :oncerts and pupil's recitals. Tlie building, as is well known, coveniently located on Maynard St. witliin a half block of the electric care, and witliin one block of the campus. Messrs. J. Erich Schmaal, Silas R. Mills, and F. 1.. Abel of the old faculty remain. Miss Povey will not teach this yearon account f a serioiis difficulty with lier arm, which is hoped may be removed by rest and change of work. Her position will be OCCUpied by Miss Jeannette M. Loudon, a pupil of Mr. II. Bcherwood, Etnd Xavier Scbarwenka. Miss Louilon bas enjoyed the advantages of years of study inBerlin, is an admirable concert pianist and a teacher of exceptional ability. Mr. Herinann Zeitz lias been Bngaged as teacher of the violiu and piano. Mr. Zeitz is one of the most auperb violinista ever heard in this state. Heisa gradúate f the Hochschule, Berlín, a pupil of Von Moses, Worth, and 1 1 ie greatest violinest of the age, Joseph Joachim. Mr. Zeitz is au admirable pianist as well, and thoroughly trained musician. He has just refused a brilliant offer from Theodore Thomas. Miss Alice Bailey, of Boston, has been added to the vocal department. She is fine soprano BÍnger with a young fresh quality of voice. She has filled Bome of the moet prominent churchpositions in Boston. Mr. Arthur Foote, the well known composer, saya of her : " She has the most delicious quality of voice and is a musician to the tips of her flngers." She has had excellent success as a voice teacher in Boston, and will prove a decided acquisition to the faculty. Miss Bailey immediately apon her engagement by the school was secured by the Fort St. l'rssbyterian Church, o!' Detroit, as Boprano in the fine quartette which has done so much to make the music in that church quite famous. The price of instructiou remains as last year. Miss Lucy K. Cole whose sm-cess as teacher of music in our public schools bas been very prouounced, will train classes in sight singing, and will in all probability have classess also in music in public schools. The price for the sight singing lesson will be $5.00 per semester. Prof. Stanley cun be consulted at nis residence L'l South Ingalls St., every day this week from 12:30 to '2 o'clock. Next week he will be at Xewberry Hall from 9 to 10 a. m., and 2 to 4 p. m. The last week in September from 'J to 12 and 2 to " daily, als!, at Xewlierry Hall. Prof. Stanley is anxious to secure the addresses of parties having rooms to rent to music students. Any persons having pianos to rent by the hour would do well to inform him by postal card, as there constant inquines for such opportunities. lt is to he hoped that the music students will not have difficulty in flnding good rooms, as bas been predicted.
