When we read oí the temples erected by the ancient Chaldeans some five or six thousand years before the Chrlstian era, out of sun dried or unbaked brick, we can hardly realize that it is not many years since that material for building houses was discarded. There are two houses standing in this city now, one on N. State st., and another on E. Washington st., that are constructed of unbaked brick. To be sure the outside is covered with stucco, as was the style in the early daya of tliis city, but when that is removed the bricks are found to be made simply of sun dried These houses were erected some sixty years ano, so an old inhabitant tells us.
