Mr. Jacobs luad been mentioned as a candidate, and il he were to make the run he wished to kuow it early enough to be able to do some work in the otlier counties al the district, and not to walt until niatters had completely crystallized there. He had jnany friends in Jackson, Monroe and l.enawee ready to work tor him and it w.is but fair to get an expression of vii'ws. The men wlw eame tos'ether were mostlj thoap of the July '92 i.-oiivi'nrujii. and were not called as ïriends to Mr. J. oor lo any man. It is but fah t-0' isay that no one eonld have acted with more iairness or honesty thau did Mv. Jac&bs, as w add ed to tllê list lsèvêral nanies oí men whjom he knew wouM be ïor some o-itoer ca múdate.. The meeting was au mteresting one and it developed the fact 'that there woiuM be several canuidates in the iieLd later om, as the dark horses ivi-re bi'iiinninfï to be groomed. Natihlng beyoad the congressiotual canvass wae talked aböut, the ajleged report oï the Argus to the contriry ootwithstanding. That paper, nsnally eo astute, gave away its evident anxiety over the next board-oi supervisors and puts repubItoainfi om guard against what they etspetially prwpose to u-y to save out of the npproacJilmg deanocratjc wici-k.
