Such exercis carried on will take little time from the lessons of the day. They will be attractive to the pupils of all ages. They i!i prove a great relief to the nervous tensión. They will not only be ■ stful to the body, promoting proper circulation of the blood, keepiug the entire ïihysical syst ua in a vigorous condition, but they will promote good humor, cl and a natural, easy and healthy tune ei üind. In short, tiie.se exercises will add üiuch nol only to the health, but also to the happiness "Í teacher and pupils." And alter nvestigating all systems,. the committee summed upas follows, ï'.at : 1. The time lias fully -arrived when gymnastics, as a branch of school-culturé, should be introduced into all the public schools in tliis city. '1. Tbc Ling or Swedish system of educational gymiïastics is in all respects the hoi adapted for use in thes schools. 3. Such measures should be taken in the introducing of this system as will best insure its ellicieiit and permanent practice. 4. To this end special instructora, thoroughly trained in the system, should be employee! to instruct teachers and to supervise the practice of the system in the schools in all the frailes, and it should be the dnty of the supervisors in their official visita to the several schools to sec that this branch receives proper attentioa. 5. Not less than ten minutes nor more than tííteen minutes should be used for these exercises during each school session- (i. These exercises should be condueted under the direction of the regular teachers in the different scboolrooms. 7. For tiie purpose of efficiently carrying 'm the above plan, your committee recommend the appointment ui one director of physical training and four assistants. This is eubmitted for the public.
