It eeetns that the statement that the Reunión of the 22d Mieh. Inwint vy woivld le held on Aug. lst, was a clever ruse Col. 'Dean used to onake eertain of eecuring tlioso iamous battle flags in tiime for the day set ior that event, which is Aug. 30th, the place being chang-ed to Pontiac instead of Lansing, as has been publislied. The fol'owing quotation is taken trom the circular sent out announcing the reriiiion tind the fthange in place of holding 1lu' siinie : "An nnnsual oveni is Irnrcus. Our loug lost and captured flags of Chickamaugua, one of -svhich Avas presented .to our regiment by the young ladies of Pontiac, in 1863, is sure to be Avith hs at our coming Reunión. Col. Trhose qualities tor securing M-iliat he undertakes tO' get is so well known, has them now in his posseeston. "Tour officers havimg received warm and urgent invitations from Pontiac to hoid our meeting there, and also mn.ny .requests from prominent members oï our reghueat, believe tliat it is üie wish of our members, under all the peculiar circumstanccs, to change froin Lapeer to Pontiac, where one oí the tivo then young todles (Mrs. D. S. Howard,) -vlio held the Qag when presented to us, no-v lives. The change to Pontiae Beems a grnceful and right tliing to do, and we liare no doubt will meet "vvith your approval. Our invitation there, we ave happy to say, notwitjistanding some past misunderstandings, is warm enough and lai'ge enough to include a 'Free Banquet' to each member oí our association and their lady. "May every 22d man in tho United States answer to roll cali. Let no excuse stand between us and the flag of our youtto, the flag of our i-egiinent aaul the flag of our country."
