The down east colleges and the Detroit PreO Press ave slowly comprebendimg the progees of the west, as the followiing communication to the (Detroit Free Press in to-day'a issue, wlll readily explain : Editor Detroit Free Press : In commenting upon the abandonment at Yale of commencement ispeeches ly members oï the graduating cjass, y ou saj' in this monimg's paper that Yale has "broken {rom the traditions," and "started the movement -which," etc. The "started" is igood, but I fear some people inay not see the humor oï it.
