The Argus tells about a fellow wlio appears to have been pretty successful in assuming the names and characters of otherpeople : John R. Seville, a Philadelphia detective, left Lansing last Sunday, having in custody one of the most celebrated forgers that this progressive age has furnislied. His name is Robert E. Harvey. Il is operations have been principally with banks, and it is probable that the snm of his clever forgeries would run far into the tlionsands. He is wanted in live stiltes. He has at least 23 different aliases, among them beingthe name of C. E. Hiscock, president of the Ann Arbor Sayings bank. About two years ago this slick fellow -operated at Waterloo, Iowa, under Mr. Hiscock's name. He was looking for a good place to locate the Ann Arbor furniture factor}-, and concluded that Waterloo was just the place. He also incidentally forged some papers there, as "C. E. Hiscock." At Chicago he also íound that Mr. Hiscock's credit was excellent, and combining his own check with Mr. H.'s name and credit, did a thriftv business ampng the banks there. Forged checks in the name of G. E. Hiscock on the First Xational bank of this city kept coming b evcrv mail, till the sum ran up into the hundreds. It is probable that Eobert E. Harvey is about done with the world outside of solid walls.
