There is a thief somewhere about tliis city .who deserves a coat of tar and feathers, if not something worse. Xiirht before last some miserable human skunk went to the liouse of Mrs. Vogel, on Iliscock st., 3d ward, and stole from her what wood she had and soine chickens. Mrs. Vogel is a widow lady, whose husbnnd was killed in the service of the r., & A. A. R. R. a l'ew years since, and she has struggletl along, and supported herself and her three children ever since, by day's works. Too proud to accept of assistance froui the proper authorities, she has lived by what she could earn by honest toil, and has managed to keep the wolf frorn the door for herself and family. This fact is generally knovvn among the neighbors, by whom she is held in the highest esteem. Any person who would steal from one like her, would commit any crime in the calender. There is no piïnishment too severe for such a thief. The indignation runs high in that locality, and if the culprit could be fouud, we honestly believe he would be given such a compositekick by the people of that locality that would send him clear over Maecabee hill and land him in the river.
