Boston Journal: The relat.ivestrength }f the political parties is shown more in letail, and, in a seuse, more accurately, in the composition of state legislatures than in the niake-up of congress ; ■ cause the smaller legislative districts ' afford inore chance for the representation of minorities. It is not at all an unusual thing that a state sends a solid delegation to congress ; but a legislature absolutely solid for one .party in both branches is a rare phenonienon., Nearly all studies of political results at the election of last November have had to do with the heads of the state tickets, or with the congressmen, or witli the legislatures only with reference to their action in the election of United States senators. No attempt, we believe, has been made to exhibit, in a compact tabular form, the political complexion of the several legislatures. For this reason we offer the following statement of the strength of the parties on joint ballot in the legislatures of the different states, so far as ascertained, which affords interesting material for study : Pop., Peo.
