Freezing Microbes

Prof. Renk has quite recently examined the behavior of the cholera orgauism in ice artificially prepared from sterilized River Saaie water, and finds that five days' uninterrupted exposure to a temperature of from 0. 5 to 7 degrees C. issufficient to entirely destroy these bacilli. He also found that if the was interrupted, which took place when the vessels containingthe organism were removed for examination, six or seven days were necessary for their annihilation.
