The Wayne Review has the following lescription of an important iuiprovenient proposed near tlie village of Belleville, down the Huron river: The proposed dam across the Huron river at French Landing, about one mile irom Belleville, has given tliat section considerable notoriety. The dam will be solid masonary, 312 feet long, creatLng a large reservoir or storage, whereby 3,500 horse-power can be developed for a 12-hour service. A power house will be built at the dam. Horizontal turbine wheels will be used, conuected with eleqtrio dynamos, and copper cables will convey the power to Burrounding cities. Electric power will be for sale at the rate of $30 per horse-power per aimum. Used for city lichting an are light would cost about .$50 per annum. It is proposed to furnish Wayne, Plymouth, Northville, Believille and Ypsilanti with cheap lights, and the balance of tlie power will be used as an iuducement for manufactnring interests to locate here. Agreements for damages for all land to be submerged are now being entered into and the site for the dam bas been purchased. Capt. James Anthony will niake a preliminary survey and upon bis favorable report negotiations are being made for the necessary money to carry the enterprise to a successful completion. The estimated cost of the plant is $250,000. If no trouble is encountered with the farmers for damages for submerged lands, the whole works and dam will be completed this summer. Already a large tract of land near the dam bas been platted and laid off in a town site called New Chicago, which the promoters confidentially expect will be occupied by various nianufacturing interests as soon as the power is completed.
