On Saturday afternoon Undertaker O. M. Martin received word that there was a body in the Huron river at Fosters. In company with Coroner Ball be repaired there and they took the remains out of the river. The body indicated that t! ie man liad jeen dead for some time, montlis perïaps, as the flesh was budly deeomposed. , ïlie remains were those of a man evidently abont 40 years of age, but ;here was nothing on or about liim to teil the secret of who he was. He had on two pairs of overalls and a pair of pants, a vest, under coat and overcoat and a pair of heavy boots. He liad on no collar nor necktie ; nor was there any handkerchief in li is poekets. Theonly things in bis poekets were a small clasp pocket-book, a new mouth organ, and two empty tobáceo bags. Xo money, or letters nor any thing to give a elue of any kind to bis identity. The remains were brought to this city and fltted for burial. Sunday afternoon Coroner Ball iinpanneled a jur}' and held an inquest, the verdict being that the deceased came to bis death by drowning, but in what marnier could not be stated. The remains were then taken to the city cemetery on the Northside and buried. From the place in which the remains were found, just below the railroad bridge, several theories as to cause of death have been e vol ved. One is that he was attempting to cross the bridge and feil in. Another that he may have fallen from a train in the night. And then there are those who believe he was robbed and throvra into the river. It is a mystery that the waters of the Huron alone can teil, and they are silent It was suggested at one time that the body might be that of a man named Maybee, who had been missing from the Northside for some weeks, but that was disproved. A couple rowing on the river first discovered the remains and sent word to Mr. Martin.
