Going through the woods homeward, in some way her dress caught fire. Her frantic efforts to extinguish the flames ivere unavailing, and in her agony she stumbled. over a pile of' brush and feil. The brush immediately took fire, and the unfortunate girl became unconscious or too weak to crawl away. Her screams had been heard by her sister, who hastily ran out of the house and pressed through the wooda to the scène, the red glare of the burning brush marking too vividly the spot. But too late! The burnetl girl was lying dead on the brush heap, and the flery tongues of fíame savagely wrapt the inanimate body.
