Five new studenta registered yesterday and three otliers are expected tliis evening. Prof. J. A. Chisholm, county commissiouer of schools for Schoolcraft county, has arrived and will teach orthography and orthoepy. School will open at 8 a. m. the remainder of the term. The classes in geometry and algebra are doing heavy work. Prof. Keeler eniovs the work hugely. Supt. Cavanaugb will organize a class n general liistory, and will give lecturas n methods of teaching and school law. Quite an exciting time in the arithmeïc class this morning. Miss McCutcheon is absent to-day on ccount of sickness. She is an excellent tudent. Mr. Foster's head is out-growing his lat. He hasn't the "big head" either. 'oo much geometry. Among the new arrivals are the owing: Miss Ella Morton, of Ann Arxr; Miss Anna Bross, of Dexter; Miss Clara Sclimid, of Dexter; Miss Ger. rude Leiand, Emery, and Miss Anna ""ellows, Saline. Among the nuniber present are several graduates of the Jniversity, and of the various high schools of the county, and also many experienced teachers from other couuties. Splendid work is teing done in all the branches taught and the teachers have nanifested great pleasure and interest in the work. The school is proving an excellent aid to those whodesire to review. The class in grammar under the charge of Prof. Chisholm are evincing great interest in the work. Miss Ilosrner isthe latest arrival at the summer normal. A list of 3rd grade studente will be given in these columns in the near fuure.
