This incident is said to be a true one, but this paper f urnishes no affidavit : Since ex-mayor Darling became a contributor to the "Atlantic", many tbirigs are being credited tohim and this ainong the rest. He met a prominent citizen who loves a good joke, recently. AVhen the following conversation ensued : Joker- "I suffer f rom cold f eet at night." Dr. Darling- "Is your general health good?" "Perfectly." "Goodappetite?" "First rate." "Sleep under blankets?" "Yes." "Take plenty of oút-door esercise?" "Lots." "Ycry strange !" "By the way Dr., the cold feet I suffer froin aremy wife's." "Oh, I see, said the Dr. ivhile a thoughtful expression carne over his face, and he pulled out his prescription tab and wrote : "For wife's cold feet get a divorce Apply at ouce." The joker thought the reply a gooi one, but a little later when the Dr. pre sented his bilí and included in the sam vas this item, ''To prescribing divorce, $2.0 then he saw the joke quite forcibly.
