The Petoskey Daily Resorter has this article relativa to a young gentleman who will be remembered by many of readers : Mr. Louis J. Fasquelle has just left for New York City to resume his position as salesman for the Sherwin-Williams Company, traveling through the southern states. Mr. Fasquelle may now be properly classed among successful hotel men, his management of the Cliiton hotel this season having been rernarkably successful. Ever since leaving Petoskey, Mr. Fasquelle has spent his summer vacations here, and this year as au experiment he consented to assist Mrs. Fasquelle's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. C. Rowan, by takiiig the management of the Clifton house during July and August. Having been a traveler for many years, stopping at all kinds of hotels- good, bad and indifferent- Mr. Fasquelle was well calculated to emulate the advantages of the good ones and avoid the faults of the bad, and the popularity of the ('lifton house this season indieates that his guests have profited by his experience. Under his management the cuisine of the Clifton house has been made its strong feature, and the Resorter lias heard many compliments for the meals served there this season. Mr. Fasquelle is admirably adapted by nature for the positiou of landlord. He makes acquaintances quickly and is dal, hospitable, "hail fellow well met." He was born atJSt. Johns in this state in 18G3. He was raised in the Tamily of his grandfather, Prof. J. Louis Fasquelle, of Aun Arbor, whose name is familiar to old time students who used to delve in the pages of his French grammar. He graduated from the Ann Arbor high school in '80 and from the departmentof pharmacy in the university two years later. In the summer of '82 Mr. Fasquelle was the business manager of the Northwestern Summer Institute, a summer school started in Petoskey by professors from Aun Arbor and Ypsilanti, which was the precursor of the Summer University at Bay View. Mr. Fasquelle began the study of medicine at Ann Arbor but gave that up and went upon the road for a Detroit drug house until 'S8, when he started a drug store in Petoskey. Having sold out his drug business he took the position that he now holds some three or four years ago. Heisa successful salesman, but the guests of the Clifton who have enjoyed his hospitality this season have endeavored to persuade liim lliat his real forte is in the hotel business, and that others share this belief is evidenced by the fact that he has already had two or three flattering offers as hotel manager.
