The following dispatch from Benion Harbor would indícate something of the kind : "A party of Chicago capitalists, headed by Alanson Stewart Appleton, of tbat city, was here Tuesday in the interest of the proposed trans-Michigan oceaji ship canal, to connect the southeast end of Lake Michigan with the wesi end of Lake Erie, at Toledo, Ohio, md also for the purpose of inspecting the territorial road across the state witli a view to the construction of an electric railroad from Benton Harbor to Detroit via Decatur, Paw Paw, Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, Marshall, Albion, Jackson and Ann Arbor. The plan for an electric road across Michigan has been in contemplaron by Chicago and Pitteburg parties for some time."
