AV alter Dancer having removed to Ann Arbor, resigned his positlon as supervisor of Lima township, and the towïi board met Friday last, and appointed Mason Whipple as liis successor. Mr. Whipple is a republican wliile Mr. Dancer belongs to the democratie party. This makes the board stand 14 repubücans and 15 demoerats. There are some peculiar faets about thp supervisors' office in Lima that may be of interest to our readers. "Withln the past thirty years only two men have served the time for uhich they were elected, all the othev.s having died white in ofiice or moved out of the townshLp. Those who moved out were Byron Whittaker, John V. N. Gregory, M. B. Cook - all of whom are npw residente of Dexter, the former beingthe supervisor - Frederick Wedemeyer, o Chelsea, and "Walter Dancer, now of thfe city. The men who served therr time out ere Xatlian Pierce and Ebenezer Smith, bath still living in Lïma. üeo. Freer and Chas Whittaker each died while ser ving a tliird term as supervLsor. If looks very much as if there was something fatal about the position. A.s Mr. Dancer expressed it, "When they desireto get rid of a man up in Lima, they elect him supervisor." Be that as it may, debarring his politica! opinlons Ann Arbor would be glad to hiave Limii send her as many such citizena as Mr. Dancer as she cares to spare. And we presume Cheltea and Dexter have a similar íeeüng.
